Bruce Lee – Equipment Manager

Bruce Lee the Equipment Manager

Before Bruce Lee became a global superstar, he worked as an equipment manager at the University of Washington. This period of his life — between 1961 and 1963 — was formative in shaping the man he would become.

During this time, Bruce was also teaching martial arts to anyone who would pay for lessons, building the foundations of what would eventually become his Jeet Kune Do philosophy.

This chapter of his life demonstrates a quality that defined Bruce Lee throughout his career: the willingness to do whatever it took, regardless of status, to pursue his passion for martial arts and self-improvement. While working a modest job by day, he was revolutionising martial arts by night.

It was also during this period that he met Linda Emery, who would become his wife, and began attracting the attention of the martial arts community that would eventually lead to his Hollywood career.
